Motorola MOTOTRBO DP1400 / SL1600 Legacy Firmware Bridge Update
This Motorola MOTOTRBO legacy firmware bridge update is for selected DP1400 and related entry-level MOTOTRBO radios that are running older firmware and may need to be updated in stages before they can move further along the correct Motorola firmware path.
The purpose of this product is to provide access to older bridge firmware packages used to bring compatible radios closer to the later CPS / CPS 2.0 update path where supported. Some radios cannot be updated directly from very old firmware to later firmware releases, so an intermediate firmware stage may be required first.
A legacy firmware bridge update is an intermediate firmware package used when a radio is too far behind to update directly to a later firmware version.
In simple terms, the bridge firmware helps move the radio from an older firmware level to a newer firmware stage, so the radio can then be updated further if the model, region, CPS version and firmware path allow it.
This is especially important with older Motorola MOTOTRBO radios, because trying to jump too far in one update can cause CPS to reject the update or prevent the radio from moving to the next stage.
Some DP1400, DP1000, SL1600 and SL1000 family radios are running firmware that is too old to move directly to newer firmware releases. In these cases, the radio may need one of the older firmware bridge packages first.
The selected firmware package is the update file supplied. It is not a confirmation of the firmware currently installed in your radio, and it does not guarantee that the radio can be updated beyond that point.
Select the firmware package you require from the product options. The selected option is the firmware package supplied. It is not a confirmation of the firmware currently installed in your radio.
The dates below refer to the associated Motorola MOTOTRBO system release date or release period found for each firmware package. For older packages, exact file release dates may not always be publicly confirmed.

This product is aimed at selected Motorola MOTOTRBO entry-level radios. Compatibility depends on the exact model, region, existing firmware version, codeplug version and CPS version being used.
| Radio Family | Common Models | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DP1400 / DP1000 Family | DP1400, DP1400e where applicable, DP1000 family models | Check exact firmware and CPS compatibility before purchase. |
| SL Entry-Level Family | SL1600, SL1000 family models | Only use firmware packages that match the radio family and region. |
| DP500 / Related Entry-Level Models | DP500 and related models where supported by the firmware package | Only applicable where the firmware package specifically supports the model. |
The firmware package is normally installed onto your computer first. Once installed, the firmware should become available inside the correct Motorola CPS software, allowing the compatible radio to be updated using the correct programming cable.
Firmware updates should not be interrupted once started. Do not power down the radio, disconnect the programming cable, remove the battery, close CPS or shut down the computer while the update is running.
Once a radio has been updated, it may not be possible or advisable to return it to an older firmware version.
This product is not CPS 2.0 software and it is not a later CPS 2.0 firmware package for the DP2000e, DP3000e, DP4000e or DP4000Ex range. It is a legacy bridge firmware product for selected DP1400 and related entry-level MOTOTRBO radios.
The aim is to help move compatible older radios through the correct firmware stages so they can be brought closer to the later CPS / CPS 2.0 update path where supported. This does not guarantee that every radio can be updated to CPS 2.0 or to the newest available firmware.
This is a downloadable firmware product. Once the download link has been supplied, accessed or the file has been downloaded, the order cannot be refunded.

This product supplies selected Motorola MOTOTRBO legacy firmware packages for compatible DP1400 and related entry-level radios.
The aim is to help move compatible older radios through the correct firmware stages so they can be brought closer to the later CPS / CPS 2.0 update path where supported. Not every radio, firmware version or model can jump directly to CPS 2.0, and some radios may need more than one staged update.
No. This product supplies the selected firmware package only. Whether the radio can move onto a later CPS / CPS 2.0 stage depends on the radio model, current firmware, codeplug version, CPS version and any applicable update restrictions.
Choose the firmware package you require. The selected option is the firmware package supplied, not confirmation of the firmware currently installed in your radio. If you are unsure, contact us before purchase.
Not always. Some radios need to be updated in stages. The correct update path depends on the current firmware, codeplug version, CPS version, radio model and region.
No, not unless specifically stated. Firmware packages and CPS programming software are separate items. You will need the correct CPS version for the firmware package and radio being updated.
Yes. You need the correct Motorola programming cable for the radio model. A cable is not included unless specifically stated.
Firmware and codeplug programming are different things. You should always read and save the radio codeplug before carrying out any firmware update.
You should treat firmware updates as one-way unless you know otherwise. Once updated, it may not be possible or advisable to return the radio to an older firmware version.
Yes. Contact us before purchase with the radio model, current firmware version, codeplug version, CPS version and any update error message shown.
No refund is offered once the download link has been supplied, accessed or the file has been downloaded. Please check before purchasing.
If your radio is from a different Motorola MOTOTRBO range, or you require later CPS 2.0 firmware, please use the correct firmware product for that radio family.
