Motorola MOTOTRBO Legacy Firmware Bridge Update – DP2000 / DP3000 / DP4000 / DP4000Ex
This Motorola MOTOTRBO legacy firmware bridge update is for older compatible Motorola radios that cannot be updated directly to the later CPS 2.0 firmware. Some radios are running firmware that is too old to jump straight to the CPS 2.0 update path and may require an intermediate firmware stage first.
This product is designed to help customers with older DP2000, DP3000, DP4000 and DP4000Ex series radios move through the correct firmware update path before attempting the later CPS 2.0 firmware update.
A firmware bridge update is an intermediate update used when a radio is too far behind to accept a later firmware version directly. Instead of trying to jump from very old firmware straight to the CPS 2.0 firmware, the radio may need to be updated in stages.
This firmware bridge page is intended for selected Motorola MOTOTRBO portable radios in the following families. Compatibility still depends on the exact radio model, region, current firmware and codeplug version.
| Radio Series | Common Models | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DP2000 Series | DP2400, DP2600, DP2400e, DP2600e | Check current firmware before purchase. |
| SL Series | SL2600 | Included in later MOTOTRBO firmware families. |
| DP3000 Series | DP3400, DP3441e, DP3600, DP3661e | Older DP3000 radios may need staged updates. |
| DP4000 Series | DP4400, DP4401, DP4600, DP4601, DP4800, DP4801 | Check whether the radio is pre-CPS 2.0 or already on the CPS 2.0 path. |
| DP4000Ex ATEX Series | DP4401Ex, DP4801Ex | Extra care should be taken with ATEX radios. Do not update unless you are sure the firmware is correct. |
Select the firmware package you require from the product options. The selected option is the firmware package supplied and the firmware stage the radio is being updated to. It is not the firmware currently installed in your radio.

The firmware package supplied is normally installed onto your computer first. Once installed, the firmware version should become available inside the correct Motorola CPS software, allowing the radio to be updated using a compatible programming cable.
Once the radio has been successfully updated to the required bridge firmware stage, it may then be possible to move the radio onto the later CPS 2.0 entry firmware, such as R02.10.10.0001, where applicable.
Firmware updates should not be interrupted once started. Interrupting a firmware update may cause the radio to fail the update or require further recovery work. Always make sure the correct firmware package, CPS version, programming cable and radio model are being used before starting.
Please check your radio before purchasing. The correct firmware depends on the radio model, region, existing firmware, codeplug version and the CPS version being used. Firmware updates are technical and should only be carried out by someone who understands the risks.
This is a downloadable firmware product. Once the download link has been supplied, accessed or the file has been downloaded, the order cannot be refunded.

Not always. Some older radios cannot jump straight to the newest firmware. They may need one or more intermediate firmware stages first.
This page covers selected firmware packages for compatible radios in those ranges. Compatibility depends on the exact model, region and current firmware level.
Yes. Firmware updates are normally carried out using the correct Motorola CPS software and the correct programming cable for the radio. Motorola CPS 1.0 Legacy v16 Build 823
Yes. You need the correct Motorola programming cable for your radio. A cable is not included with this firmware download unless specifically stated.
Firmware and codeplug programming are different things. You should always read and save the radio codeplug before starting any firmware update.
You should treat firmware updates as one-way unless you know otherwise. Once updated, it may not be possible or advisable to return the radio to an older firmware version.
The firmware may not install, CPS may show an error, or the radio may not update correctly. This is why it is important to check the radio first and contact us before ordering if you are unsure.
No refund is offered once the download link has been supplied, accessed or the file has been downloaded. Please check before buying.
